전국IT산업노동조합연맹은(IT연맹)은 오는 18일과 19일 양일간 '한미FTA 체결 저지를 위한 사이버 투쟁'을 전개한다.

오는 18, 19일은 민주노총 전국 집중 상경투쟁 일정으로 IT연맹은 연맹 특성에 맞게 '사이버 투쟁'의 방식을 택한 것.

박정웅 IT연맹 정책부장은 "현재 연맹 내 700여명의 투쟁단을 구성"했다고 밝히며, "양일간 9시부터 6시까지 투쟁 상황실을 중심으로 오전 오후 집중 투쟁 시간을 정해 전개할 것"이라고 밝혔다. 아울러 "한미FTA 여론 자체가 많이 떨어진 상황에서, 전환의 기회를 마련하고자 한다"며 취지를 강조했다.

사이버 투쟁은 이메일 보내기, 청와대 및 관련 홈페이지 민원게시판에 게시물 올리기, daum 포탈 아고라 토론방에 게시물 올리기 등의 방식으로 진행된다.

Dear President George W. Bush:

We South Korean IT workers are completely opposed to the free trade agreement between Korea and the United States, which is set to be signed soon.

The agreement was reached less than a year after the talks started and the short negotiation period has caused several problems.

First and foremost, the agreement is filled with procedural problems. Before the launch of negotiations, the Korean government didn’t listen people’s views on it and all information was off limits during the talks even to our lawmakers. In addition, the full text was revealed months after the agreement was reached.

The FTA does not serve the interests of the people of either country, including workers like us. This politically motivated agreement will provide windfall benefits only for capitalists and some companies.

Many Koreans oppose the FTA. The agreement will trigger industrial restructuring, which will eventually cause many U.S. workers to lose their jobs. This is why conscientious workers of Korea and the U.S. object to the agreement.

Korean President Roh Moo-hyun will visit the U.S. this month to sign the FTA. We sincerely hope President Roh, under attack here because of the FTA, will withdraw from the deal, and we urge you to do the same.
